Barrel sauna kit delivered to Leicester

Flat, inland and honestly cold in January

Leicester sits in the middle of England, well away from the sea, so winter here is about frost and clear nights rather than storms. That is good sauna weather. The 44 mm solid spruce walls hold the heat, and a stove sized to the cabin brings it to temperature in about an hour.

Summers are warm and dry enough that many owners use the sauna with the door open and a cool drink on the terrace.

Family suburbs and village plots

The city has a great deal of Victorian and interwar housing with long, narrow back gardens, and a ring of suburbs such as Oadby and Wigston where the plots are wider. The 2 m barrel is a natural fit for a long thin garden, tucked at the far end on a small slabbed terrace. Out in the villages around Market Harborough and Melton Mowbray, the 3 m barrel or a Quadro has the room to breathe.

No concrete foundation is needed. A level base of paving slabs or gravel with slabs is enough.

Delivery and assembly in Leicester

The kit comes on one pallet by lorry with a hydraulic tail-lift and is left at your kerb or driveway. Making takes 4 to 6 weeks, then roughly a week for delivery. Two adults carry the parts through the house passage or side gate, and the first build takes around two days with a drill, hammer, spirit level and stepladder. Permission and neighbours

Small garden buildings often need no application, but height, position and boundary distance matter. Please ask Leicester City Council or your district council before you order, and tell the neighbours if you plan a wood stove.
