A city rebuilt, gardens still green

Coventry was rebuilt after the war, and much of it is made of mid-century housing with surprisingly generous back gardens. That is a good starting point for a sauna: lawn to spare and a quiet corner away from the house.

Winters are cool and grey rather than harsh, and a barrel sauna is a reliable way to enjoy them.

Warwickshire towns and country plots

Kenilworth, Leamington Spa and Warwick have larger Victorian and Edwardian gardens, while villages around Stratford-upon-Avon offer rural plots with orchards and paddocks. For a growing family the 3 m barrel is comfortable, and for a couple the 2 m barrel with a small terrace is plenty.

The base should be firm, level and well drained. Slabs on compacted gravel do the job.

Delivery and assembly in Coventry

The pallet is delivered on a tail-lift lorry to the kerb or driveway. Allow 4 to 6 weeks for making, plus about a week on the road. Two adults carry the parts to the garden and the first build takes about two days, following the illustrated manual. Our crew will assemble from £990 if you prefer.

Using the cabin year-round

Many Coventry owners tell us that the sauna is a different room in each season. In winter it is a place to thaw out. In spring it is a quiet corner after gardening, and in summer, with the door open and the vents set wide, it is simply a shady timber cabin. Plan a light and a small side table, and keep a bottle of water inside.

The optional IP65 LED lighting is moisture-resistant and designed for exactly this room.

Check with Coventry City Council or your local district council whether a garden building of your size needs approval, particularly if your home is listed or in a conservation area.
